Okra is scientifically known as Abelmoschus esculentus. Itis a vegetable that originated in India. This finger-like, green-coloured vegetable has a unique taste and has some white-coloured seeds inside which are edible. It emits a slick substance called mucilage, which is a little like aloe vera gel in texture. It is imported from India.
Can be used in a variety of curry dishes or to make okra curry.
Can be used in soups like in African cuisine.
Can be baked with tomatoes and onions, seasoned with olive oil an spices, served with cheese and bread.
