Sugarcane, scientifically known as Saccharum originally comes from Southeast Asia and belongs to the class of perennial grasses. Infact, a sugarcane is processed to extract the juice resulting in sugar as the outcome. However, sugar cane can also be eaten as a fruit. A very tall plant with thick and sweet stalks which is directly imported from Uganda and Pakistan.
Peel the outer green layer with a knife and then slice the stem longways into quarters.
Chew the stem for juice and throw the remains.
How to eat a sugarcane?
Chew the fiber to extract sweetness: Cut sugarcane into small pieces, peel the outer layer, squeez with a machine or directly chew to extract the sweet juice and throw or spit the leftover fiber.
Use the cane as a skewer: Cut sugar cane pieces into thin sticks after peeling of f the outer skin, use skewers for dessert items, like fruit kebabs or to dip strawberries in chocolate.
Try the cane as a swizzle stick: Use the peeled sugar cane as a swizzle stick in any sort of beverage. This can give alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages a natural sweetness.
